How to look Awesome in your Senior Photos

I know this is a lot to read, but if you follow these tips, it will be totally worth it and you will look like your most amazing self in your photos!

Try to get a lot of rest the night before your shoot – no late-night partying.

Eat

Make sure you eat before your session so you’re not hangry. If you are bringing family or friends to your session, feed them, too!

Shave

Shave a couple of hours before your session, do it well and then treat your skin to some after-shave to help your skin heal. That is unless you typically wear a beard, of course - then trim it evenly so it’s well groomed.

Tame that hair

Not sure what to do with your hair? Just come with clean, washed hair in your regular style. Don't try something different for your session. If in doubt, go for a timeless hairstyle.

Clean those hands

Been working on some fun projects? Be sure that your nails are clean and that no residue of paint, motor oil, dirt etc. is showing on your hands. Your hands will be visible in many of your photos.

Skip those colored foods

Please avoid eating or drinking red, orange, or blue food or drinks before the session that could leave stains on your face.

Don’t worry about That acne

A few blemishes are no big deal - these will be removed during post-processing.
Heavy acne will fade in post but not be entirely removed: it’s just part of being a teen.

What to Wear

Simple shirts in one plain color tend to look best. Avoid crazy patterns, designs, writing
Whites often do not photograph well. Instead, go for a shade that is darker than your skin tone.

Feel free to try a couple of different outfits during your shoot. Make sure they have a variety of colors/styles and are easy to switch out.

Like maybe a plain tee, a dressier shirt to put over this, for an alternate look, and a cool jacket for a different vibe.

Be sure to run your choices by your parents, or you might end up with photos that you love but that are just not what your family appreciates.

Can’t decide what to wear? Bring lots of wardrobe choices, and we'll decide together what looks good and photographs even better.

Try your clothing on well in advance to be sure it still fits comfortably and looks the way you envisioned.

Make sure each piece of clothing is clean and makes it to the location wrinkle-free.

What to Bring

Y o u r t h i n g s -

Consider bringing something that represents who you are / what you enjoy right now. Maybe that is your guitar, your soccer ball or even your toolbox or cool sunglasses. Cute puppies also qualify.

This can add so much to a photo and give it more of a story.
Please try to let me know in advance if you will be bringing some special items so that I can come up with some creative ideas on how to showcase you with them!

Y o u r p e o p l e

You are welcome to bring a friend or two and even a parent if you’d like ;-).

The photo shoot starts at the agreed-upon time!
Please plan to arrive a few minutes early - that way you’ll get there all relaxed and ready for a great experience.

Lots to think about! The more you invest in the preparation for your photo shoot the better the images will be.

This is going to be fun – can’t wait to meet you!
