A few quick ideas to help your business look great on camera
Cleaning
Dust, sweep or vacuum the floor
Clean work surfaces and windows
Empty trash cans
Tidying
Straighten tools out on work surfaces and neatly arrange items on shelves
Put away any items that are not directly related to your business (jackets, shoes, personal items, personal photos, cleaning supplies, boxes, magazines etc.)
Hide power cords, replace burned out light bulbs, turn off computer screens
Presenting your products
Gather key products (in perfect condition) that define your business
Have products available within packaging, unpackaged and in open packages
Flowers, fresh food etc. should be in peak condition the day of the shoot
Arrange your products beautifully in a well-lit pleasing area
Gather props that relate to how the products are used/ how they are made/ which components are used etc.
Add items that support the vibe of your product: natural/ luxurious / tough etc.
Add a bouquet off flowers or a cozy coffee set to make your workspace look inviting
Showing off what you are proud of
Bring out items that you are proud of and showcase them in your business:
awards,
diplomas,
magazine covers;
pieces that reflect your best work,
high-end or unusual tools,
special equipment that exemplifies your expertise
Bringing in people and animals
If your team or customers are part of the photo session, ask for their permission in advance and discuss what kind of photos / use of imagery they would be comfortable with (seek written waiver)
Confirm that they can join you at the time of the shoot
Discuss what they are going to wear if that is factor in the representation of your business
Bring your kids/ family members into the picture to add extra warmth to a family business
A cute shop dog/cat adds personality and helps your customers connect with your business
Showing up relaxed
Get plenty of sleep the night before
Leave extra time not be rushed,
Have a light meal,
Schedule some extra time to take a break or touch up your hair/ make up
Great photos are all about the ENERGY you embody. Showing up open and positive is really all you need to do. From here on out you can just go with the flow, have fun and we will take some great photos in the process.
I am so excited for our shoot together!
Warmly,
Oriana
